Mary Follett is an artist living and working in London,
England. During her study of Fine Art (BA hons.) at University College
Falmouth from 2003-06, she was inspired by the processes and aesthetics of
printmaking and decided to carry her art practise over into this area.
After exhibiting in many group exhibitions in the South West and being an
ongoing exhibitor at Padstow’s Contemporary Art Gallery throughout her
University years, Mary was a prize-winner at ‘Originals 06: The Contemporary
Printmaking Show’ in London and also had a solo exhibition, ‘Fleeting
tides’, in Padstow later that year.
By exploring and combining the processes of etching and intaglio, woodcut,
screen-print and lithography, Mary records the rhythm and motion of nature
through her response to natural surfaces and landscapes. Her signature
prints and paintings seek to echo the environment she is surrounded by.
Nature in its essence (the constantly transforming energy, line and tactile
quality of the natural terrain) is paired down and re-communicated with
fluidity and expression.
